Snow at Night

In the night
the moon was a bone
in a sky of flesh.

The trees question
and then the snow came,
and silence turned the eye
to the window.

Each room laughed softly,
watching through the open door
the street tip down the hill.

And my warmth grows hard,
like a pearl about you,
frozen by this snow.
